Continuing in the success of the annual Access To Music Awards Ceremony launched by Sir George Martin, which for over 8 years has celebrated, identified and supported new talent within music education including Ed Sheeran, Access To Music has joined forces with Liverpool Sound City to present a suite of national award presentations at the Echo Arena hosted by Edith Bowman on 17th May 2012.
With support from top-flight industry guests from around the world the event will deliver an evening of ‘show-biz’, ‘glitzy’ presentations along the lines of other professional music industry award ceremonies, e.g. The Brits.
No other national music college is giving the stars of tomorrow the amazing opportunity to shine today with recognition directly from the music industry. This again reaffirms that Access To Music is the link between the industry as leading provider of contemporary popular music education.

LIVE MUSIC from:
The Royal Northern College of Music Session Orchestra (Manchester)
The Royal Northern College of Music Session Orchestra is the first ensemble to bring together students on the college's Access to Music Popular Music Performance degree with students on the RNCM Classical Music degree. The brainchild of Musical Director Andy Stott, the 35 piece orchestra, comprising of a rhythm section, strings, brass, percussion and vocalists, made its debut concert performance to a sell out audience at the RNCM in November 2011 to great critical acclaim. The orchestra is set be a regular fixture in the college’s concert programme, along with Access to Music’s live events programme and on concert tours in the UK and Europe.
Kamilla Lovett (Norwich)
Kamilla Lovett is an nineteen year old singer songwriter and pianist, crafting soul infused pop. “From the moment she stepped behind the keyboard, a deathly hush came over the crowd, and the room was captivated by her simple-yet-beautiful songs. There is something enchanting about her vocal delivery that sweeps you up along with the melodic arrangements.” - Battery In Your Leg
La Petite Mort (York)
La Petite Mort are a 4 piece Alternative Rock band from York.
Their sound has been described as a Psychedelic Daisy Indie Soundscape with influences ranging from the raw, live and messy rock music of a sweaty basement to the chonged shoegazey electronic world of a fairytale. After a year La Petite Mort have gained a large following in York and surrounding areas. The Band also completed a UK tour this time last year after being chosen for the ATOM live tour, being one of only five bands picked in the UK. Now here at the UK Music Student Awards, 2012 looks to be an exciting year for La Petite Mort.
The Cutouts (Bury St.Edmund)
The Cutouts (made up of Amber, Ruby, Trina and Carla) first came together during their Access to Music course, and since then they've been making their name as a fun, quirky girl group around their local area of Bury St.Edmunds, Suffolk, doing a range of open mic nights and small local gigs! As they started as four vocalists their songs began mostly a cappella, then piano and egg shaker was added..and a ukulele, these layers added with the numerous four part harmonies created what is now a huge range of covers and their own written songs.
Trudi (London)
A blend of sometimes soulful, sometimes haunting vocals, with heart beat drums, acoustic and Electric Guitar, Bass, cello and violin and keyboard playing out on individual songs. Mixing Peter Gabriel with Odetta Homles Trudi Mosiamo shares her life, loves, and musings openly for all to hear.
Strike (London)
This is first taste of Andrew Cloveys AKA STRIKE vision to evolve beyond the walls of his home studio. Soulful Jazz inflected arrangements fused with folk and hip-hop, a truly sublime mix. This is the sound of a bedroom producer with global ambitions.
The Union Dolls (Liverpool)
The Union Dolls are a 4-piece all female garage punk outfit from Liverpool. The sound is scuzzed up, buzz saw guitars with chant-a-long choruses, think MC5 meets Bananarama.... almost too good to be true!
