Health & Safety for Events in Education Including Risk Assessment Training
A one-day training programme raises awareness, develops confidence,
prepares for the unexpected and contributes to competency.
Millions of education visits take place every year. Risk can never be totally eliminated in these circumstances. However, if a trip or event is well planned with all possible risk assessments conducted beforehand, and the accompanying staff act reasonably and responsibly, the likelihood of serious accidents occurring will be reduced.

Enrichment and extra-curricular activities can be of substantial benefit to the student/pupil and can also provide realistic goals and objectives. The department for Education and Skills and the Health and Safety Executive strongly believe in the educational value of off-site trips.
Middle managers in FE are often too busy to give much thought to health and safety on a day-to-day basis. The consequences of this are that teachers may not give it the priority it deserves and institutions may find themselves in a situation of serious injury to staff and/or students, the bad publicity that accompanies such incidents and the threat of legal action. This course is aimed at middle managers that want a guide to health and safety that is practical and easy to implement.
Access to Music’s Risk Assessment Training provides realistic guidance and advice together with practical information and resources. It specifically looks at health and safety issues and risk assessments for off-site events and visits in the Further Education (FE) sector. This one-day programme raises awareness, develops confidence, prepares for the unexpected and contributes to competency.
